Why 2023 Is The Year of Self-Care

Self-care is an essential ingredient in the recipe for happiness and success.

The average person becomes occupied and overbooked by life's daily responsibilities. Work, school, family, more work, and more school; if allowed to, these tasks can take over. Typically born from our dedication to our passions, we persist in these daily tasks because of the value we've assigned to them and the roles they play in our lives. Although these responsibilities are deemed essential, over time they can take over our minds and slowly consume the well-being of our bodies. If left unchecked, the responsibilities established to aid our lives can hinder them.

It's important to remember that you should put nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing above your health and wellness. This includes your love for your family or money. Ambition is great, responsibility is respected, and diligence is honored. Among all of these qualities, self-care must be present because, without it, your passions will be replaced by your "burdens".

Your Mind is Begging for It

Everyone needs a break; superheroes get tired too. This is where self-care comes into play and why it's so very important. Simply put, self-care is mindfully loving and nurturing yourself. Your mental and emotional health are vital to your existence. With these depleted, you prevent yourself from prospering at your highest potential and your resilience becomes diminished, allowing for external factors to deeply damage you.

You must get to know yourself so that you can better understand your strengths and limitations. With these factors understood, you allow yourself to experience enhanced mental health and emotional intelligence, you aid in enhancing your resilience to the challenges of life enabling you to handle stress, and you even promote your life span, aiding your body to live longer.

There are many different variations of self-care, and this is because there are many different people and situations in this world. So it's important that you have a healthy self-care routine that works for you. So examples of self-care routines that aid the mind include, maintaining quality sleep patterns, writing, establishing and maintaining healthy relationships, meditating, reading, or even watching your favorite show. The goal is to give yourself a break.

Your Body Needs It

Your body's not going to just keep going without proper maintenance. Yes you go to the doctor regularly, or you exercise consistently, but those are surface-level initiatives. The goal is to heal your body from the inside out, through self-care. Proper self-care aids in the mind, body, and soul's connection to one another. It shuts out all of the external noise and allows you to be one with yourself. If you feel as if you've been underperforming lately, perhaps it's due to a lack of self-care.

Consider taking a nice bath or shower, going for a walk, or relaxing in the sun. Maybe have a cup of tea as you sit with your thoughts, aiming to gain more internal clarity. Throw in some exercise here and there to keep your body strong and dependent on itself. Or maybe cut back on the exercising because you're overloading your body. These things don't need to be done daily, but they do need to be considered. Strive to have an average of three hours of self-care every week. And at a steady pace that doesn't overwhelm you, slowly increase the increments in which you dedicate time to yourself.

The goal is for you to not hold yourself back. The goal is for you to remove anything that is hindering you in your life, including your personal decisions, so that you may evolve into all that you were meant to be and then some. Tend to yourself the way in which you would tend to a newborn baby. Love yourself as passionately as you would love your soul mate or first love.

Your Soul Will Thrive From It

The true you, your highest self. Your soul is the embodiment of all that is positivity, love, and light. This is where your dreams lie and your pain falls. It's important for you to hone and ignite these dreams that lie dormant within. It's important to remove that deeply embedded pain accumulated over the years that keeps trying to pull you back. Your soul is where your power lies.

Acknowledge the capability of self-care, and understand that it is an easily obtainable strength. When you nurture the mind and body, you feed the soul. If you neglect the mind and body, they will slowly die leaving the soul to follow. Do not kill yourself by surrendering your health to the world around you. Separate yourself to truly understand your importance and power, because you are important and you are powerful. Get to know yourself and allow for the knowledge of your weaknesses to be your greatest strength.

Give It a Try

It's time for you to go be great. Always remember to love yourself first and unconditionally. Be proud of who you are and how far you've come. Thousands would not be able to bare your shoes, your pain, or your story. Embrace your strength, nurture your weaknesses, and devote yourself to all that is love.
